Dozer Time

It is always a joy to have a fun Dozer project to work on. This one is no exception. In the Apache Mountains of New Mexico, we did a couple of projects for our wonderful customer. We loaded up the equipment, the RV, the kids and dog. We spent about a week camping, having a great time with the family while working on this job.

Our first project was to create a large pond for water. We used the dozer and Gannon to expand an existing pond approximately 100 feet by 200 feet. The goal was to catch all the runoff for the wildlife and livestock to drink from. (aerial view below)

Next, we created a space for an underground greenhouse (picture below). I was not sure of the potential of an underground greenhouse, until I read an article of a person in Idaho picking fresh watermelon from his greenhouse on Christmas Day. Mark thought this was such a great idea, he wants to build one.

The last projects were building pad sites with basements. Each building pad was approximately 80 feet by 80 feet x 10 depth. Mark and Darian did a great job. As you look at the pictures above and below, you will see different colors of material. The white was the hardest density and they had to use the rippers on the Dozer to break through the caliche. The dozer would rip through the caliche and the Gannon would haul the material out and stockpile it for backfill around the basement walls.

Every job needs a job supervisor. Let me introduce you to our job supervisor, “ Rio”

Look at that smile, I think you can see that he loves what he does. It is why we have come up with the saying “Playing in the dirt for a living”.

Until next time…..

Hugs
